Shuaib al-Nazim is a distinctive natural valley at the upper edge of the Tuwaiq plateau in the Kurmah district, the northern part of Sudair, reached from Rawdat Sudair by the Jilajil-Dahna road about 160 kilometers north of Riyadh. Its name derives from the succession of closely spaced pools along the wadi floor, a feature described in the classical dictionary al-Qamus al-Muhit under the root meaning "orderly arrangement," indicating a valued water resource for resident tribes and pastoralists across the ages.
Historically the valley belonged to the district known as Bilad al-Kurma, mentioned by early Arab geographers including al-Hazmi and later studied in detail by Hamad al-Jasser. The area is geologically notable for multicolored brecciated pebbles that hint at ancient marine deposition, a rarity on the Najdi plateau.
Shuaib al-Nazim therefore combines hydrology, lexicography, and earth science in one Sudair landscape, preserving both the vocabulary of classical Arabic geography and the physical traces of environments far older than the human communities that depended on its pools.
