The Day of Shi'b Jabala was fought at the Jabala plateau in central Najd between Banu Amir ibn Sa'sa'ah, who sheltered weakened Banu Abs after the War of Dahis and al-Ghabra, and a broad coalition led by Laqit ibn Zurarah al-Tamimi that included Tamim, Asad, Ghatafan, and contingents of Kindah under Ma'awiyah ibn al-Jawn.
Laqit marched seeking vengeance for his brother Ma'bad ibn Zurarah, killed by Banu Amir. The defenders and their allies fortified themselves in the narrow gorge of Shi'b Jabala. According to classical accounts, the besieged drove thirsty camels against the attacking ranks, throwing the coalition into disorder and turning a desperate stratagem into a crushing victory. Laqit fell in the battle.
Today the Jabala plateau is a natural and recreational landmark in Najd, with gorges, trees, and ancient wells that hikers explore. It remains a geographic witness to one of the most narrated days of Arab valor and tactical ingenuity before Islam.
