Wadi Hunayn
Wadi Hunayn
Days after the conquest of Makkah in 8 AH/630, Muslims met Hawazin and Thaqif in Wadi Hunayn — ambush, stand, victory; named in the Qur’an, then Awtas, Taif and Ji‘ranah.

Why visit?
The Qur’anic battle of the year of conquest, and the hinge toward Taif and Ji‘ranah.
Wadi Hunayn, between Makkah and Taif, was the main fight of 8 AH/630 after the conquest. A large Muslim army — often put near twelve thousand — walked into Hawazin and Thaqif archers under Malik ibn Awf. The van broke; the Prophet and those around him stood; the valley turned. Qur’an 9:25–26 names the day.
The geography continues: Awtas, the siege of Taif, the spoils at Ji‘ranah. Hunayn is a chain, not a single GPS pin. The coordinate is an area. There is no fenced battlefield.
