Bi’r Ma‘unah is a Najdi water named in the sira. In 4 AH/625, after Abu Bara asked for teachers, a party of reciters — often numbered around seventy — was betrayed there by groups from Sulaym around Amir ibn al-Tufayl. Most were killed. The Prophet made qunut for a month.
This is not a conquest site. It is a memory of teaching answered by treachery. Do not fuse it with Yamama or the later collection of the Qur’an.
