مواقع نيوليتية في شرق الجزيرة (عين قناص بالأحساء والدوسرية قرب الساحل) كشفت عن استيطان مبكّر وفخّارٍ من طراز العُبيد الرافدي، ما يدلّ على شبكة تبادل بحري وبرّي بين شرق الجزيرة وبلاد الرافدين منذ آلاف السنين. تمثّل هذه المواقع بداية اتصال الخليج بحضارات الجوار قبل جرهاء وثاج بأزمان طويلة.
